![]() ![]() I go out a fair bit, always tip but don't always get thanked and whenever that happens it makes me wish I hadn't bothered. If you expect a tip, I expect appreciation for it. I didn't hear the server thank me for the tip, which to me is imperative. Maybe I can edit this later. As I said, overall a pleasant evening out.One more tiny note. I'm old and tired and don't want to start downloading apps. I don't know, probably not unless I die in my sleep.Okay, never mind the photo. Looks a bit like bay leaf to me but it's poisonous so. Perhaps someone can identify what it was. I discreetly spit them into my napkin and brought it home to take a pic, but I haven't had success adding photos to reviews before. The ambience, overall service, drinks and food were really good.I rated it four stars because although our server was lovely, efficient and kept our water glasses (prepoured when we arrived) full, she didn't come back to check on how we were enjoying our meals so I couldn't tell her my delicious lasagna wasn't quite hot enough. Also, while not her fault, my food contained a few bits of gristle and something herbal (leaves and stem) I couldn't chew through. ![]() The music, while not jazz, was exceptionally good blues. Jacquelyn Johnston: Tonight was my first time here, went with a group of friends to hear LJ Mountenay. Does she even have her Serving It Right? Were it not for this last evenings shenanigans there I'd give Pats a 5. I'm leaving the hotel (which smells great when the craft brewery is making batch) for elsewhere so the barring me from the bar doesn't matter that much, but I do think she needs a review of her customer services skills. ![]() What was all that? For my 2-3 weeks living at the Pat Hotel I very happily ate and drank downstairs many times, but for whatever reason, after I made mention that the doors were locked, this server who had been serving me went berserk. I told her that I thought this was a fire code violation and she flipped out on me, opened the door to the hotel lobby, told me I was 86'd forever, that I was drunk, and she asked the hotel manager for my room number. The doors to Hastings and the parking lot were bolt locked. Like many other times, I minded my own business and was about to leave but the exit doors were locked. Sunday night I ordered only from her, and hadn't drank anywhere else. I'm only giving Pats a 3 because of how I was treated by a server there 2 nights ago I don't know her name, but give her 5'3 with long brown hair. L B: Pat's is great, Nella is super nice and remembered my orders before I ordered them, the dude bartender is funny and always has something nice to say. I have upped my star rating because of this and I hope the next time I visit, the staff will be as respectful and kind as I’m used to! It’s nice to see that they are trying to improve. I received thoughtful responses and it seems like they are taking situations like this seriously. Highly recommend.**edit: I had a back and forth with the owner because I wanted to clarify some details. ![]() Great staff, friendly, genuinely kind people. I have so many good memories here, but unfortunately overshadowed by this staff member’s behavior.Followed up by going to Smith’s. Is re-entry not allowed after paying the same cover as everyone else in line? Kind of sad to see one of my favorite places in Vancouver fall to this type of behavior. Maybe Guilt & Co can speak to this issue. Kind of sad to see a place that I truly enjoyed fall to some horrible customer service. Not sure if this is a policy Guilt&Co has now, but from my past experiences, paying cover allows for re-entry later on. The man at the front, as we were exiting, stopped his coworker from stamping us for re-entry as he decided for us “because we would not be re-entering”. In the past, have enjoyed myself, but unfortunately tonight we experienced some unprofessional behavior. Amarjot Pabla: Been to this place many times. ![]()
